Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Warm the engine up to normal operating temperature.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Be sure that the throttle plate is closed.
4. Connect a timing light to the #1 cylinder high tension lead.
5. Disconnect the vacuum advance hose from the distributor and plug it.
6. Start the engine.
7. Adjust the idle speed to (900 - 950 manual transmission) (950 - 1000 automatic transmission). Refer to "Idle Speed Adjustment".

Ignition Timing Marks:

8. Align the TDC crank pulley notch with the 10° mark on the timing plate. Loosen the locking bolt and adjust the distributor accordingly.
9. Recheck the idle speed and readjust if necessary.
