Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove glove compartment, then disconnect in-car sensor from wiring harness. Do not disconnect aspirator assembly or remove sensor from instrument panel.
2. Check aspirator assembly as described under "Aspirator Test."
3. Position a thermometer into air inlet grille near in-car sensor, then set blower motor speed to M2. Depress Max. A/C push button, then pull push button out to turn A/C compressor off and close water valve.
4. With blower motor operating, connect ohmmeter to in-car sensor wire terminals. Resistance of the in-car sensor should be between 1100 and 1800 ohms at a temperature of 70-80°F. Do not leave ohmmeter connected to in-car sensor longer than 5 seconds, or an inaccurate resistance reading may be obtained.
