Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair


1. Remove fuel injection pipes. Refer to ``Fuel Injection Pipe, Replace.''
2. Remove fuel injectors. Refer to ``Fuel Injectors, Replace.''
3. Disconnect breather hose from valve cover and remove valve cover.
4. Remove timing belts. Refer to ``Timing Belt, Replace.''
5. Remove rocker arm. Refer to ``Rocker Arm, Replace.''
6. Remove camshaft. Refer to ``Camshaft, Replace.''
7. Remove water outlet fitting from cylinder head.

8. Remove cylinder head bolts in two steps in sequence shown in Fig. 16.

9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque cylinder head bolts to 76-83 ft. lbs. for cold engine and 84-90 ft. lbs. for hot engine in sequence shown in Fig. 17. Torque all bolts to 1/2 specified torque first, then finish torquing to full torque specifications.
