The following corrections should be made to the 1983 Colt/Ram 50 Service Manual, publication #81-370-3009, Section 14, pages 14-3 and 14-4.

Certain trouble shooting procedures in the subject model service manual recommended fuel injection pump replacement to remedy particular problems. These recommendations are being changed to read "repair pump" instead of "replace pump."

Problem Remedy

1. Engine does not start. 1. Try to start engine with new
pump installed. If necessary, repair pump.


3. Idle speed incorrect or idle j. Try engine at idle with new
rough or irregular. pump installed. If necessary, repair pump.

4. Smoky exhaust (black, blue, g. Observe exhaust with new or
white). pump installed. If necessary, repair pump. See 10.4.


5. Poor power output, slow i. Check acceleration and acceleration or top speed
speed with new pump in- (speedometer accurate,
stalled. If necessary, clutch not slipping). repair pump.


6. Excessive fuel consumption. h. Check fuel consumption with new
pump installed. If necessary, repair pump.
