1987-88 Colt
This procedure is for the purpose of checking and adjusting the idle speed control operation of the throttle opener with an electrical load applied.
1. Start and operate engine until coolant has reached normal operating temperatures.
2. Check and adjust ignition timing and curb idle speed as previously described.
3. Ensure all lights and accessories are Off, then disconnect electric cooling fan.
4. Place transaxle selector lever in Neutral, then ensure wheels are in a straight ahead position.
5. Install a suitable tachometer on engine according to manufacturers' instructions, then turn headlamps On.
6. Operate engine at approximately 2,000 RPM, then gradually return to idle. Idle RPM should be as indicated, Fig. 8.
7. If idle speed is not as specified, adjust throttle opener adjusting screw until specified idle speed is obtained.
