Ignition System: Description and Operation
The electronic ignition system consists of an electronic spark control unit (module or
igniter),
ignition coil and
distributor. Turbocharged engines also use a detonation sensor and a pressure sensor. Since the turbocharged engine incorporates a
signal generator, the igniter is separate from the distributor.
