Inputs and Outputs

Various switches located throughout the vehicle provide information to the logic module or SMEC. These switches include neutral safety, A/C clutch, speed control (1988-89) and brake light switches. When one or more of these switches is in the on position, the logic module or SMEC signals the AIS motor to increase idle speed to a specified RPM.
When air conditioning is on and the throttle valve is above a preset angle, the wide open throttle cut out relay prevents the air conditioning clutch from engaging until the throttle valve is below this angle.
