Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 3 Ignition switch replacement:





1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove left lower instrument panel cover.
3. Position gear selector to "D" and disconnect indicator cable, if equipped with automatic transaxle.
4. Remove lower panel reinforcement, then five steering column to support bracket attaching nuts.
5. Lower column and disconnect ignition switch electrical connector.
6. Position ignition lock cylinder in the Lock position.
7. Tape ignition switch rod to steering column to prevent rod from falling out of lock cylinder assembly.
8. Remove two ignition switch attaching screws, then the switch.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
