NS-8A Fault Code 43 Spark Control Circuit


Complete No Start Test 6, Step A, before proceeding.

1. With diagnostic read-out tool connected to engine harness connector, place system in Diagnostic Test Mode and turn ignition switch to Off position.
2. Disconnect ignition coil wire at distributor and place it near a good engine ground so there is 1/4 inch gap.
3. Disconnect 60-way electrical connector from SMEC and connect one end of a jumper wire to terminal No. 34.
4. Turn ignition switch On and press and hold ATM button on read-out tool.
5. Touch other end of jumper to a good ground. Make and break this connection several times while observing ignition coil wire.
6. If there is spark at ignition coil wire as you make and break connection, check terminal in terminal No. 34 of SMEC electrical connector to ensure it is not damaged causing a poor connection. If connector is good, replace SMEC.
7. If there is no spark at ignition coil wire as you make and break connection, proceed to Test 8 step B.
