Less Tilt Column

Fig. 1 Ignition Lock Cylinder Retaining Pin Removal:

Disable airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair. After prodedure has been completed, rearm airbag system.

1. Remove steering wheel, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair then column covers and turn signal switch.
2. With a hacksaw blade, cut upper 1/4 inch from retainer pin boss.
3. Using a suitable drift, drive roll pin from housing and remove lock cylinder.
4. Insert new cylinder into housing, ensuring that it engages lug or ignition switch driver.
5. Install roll pin.
6. Check for proper operation.
