Control Arm: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove steering knuckle ball joint [1][2]ball stud, clamping nut and bolt.
3. Remove attaching links connecting sway bar to lower control arm, then loosen but do not remove, bolts attaching sway bar retainers to front suspension crossmember. Rotate sway bar away from lower control arm.
4. Using a pry bar, separate steering knuckle from ball joint stud, then remove front lower control arm bushing to crossmember attaching nut and bolt.

Lower Control Arm Removal:





5. Remove rear lower control arm to crossmember and frame attaching bolt, then the lower control arm.

6. Reverse procedure to install.
