Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

1. Purge fuel system as outlined in Fuel Pressure Release Procedure raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect fuel inlet high pressure tube at both fuel pressure regulator and manual shutoff valve. Clean area around both fittings and tube before removal.
3. Remove fuel filter retention fitting from fuel pressure regulator. Fitting will be under a small spring pressure.
4. Remove fuel filter retention spring, filter and O-ring. Do not allow any foreign material to enter opening of fuel pressure regulator.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply suitable sealant to pipe threads only of tube fitting. Do not allow sealant to enter any fuel system opening.
b. After repairs have been completed and all fuel system components are in place, use a suitable Go-No-Go inspection tool to inspect fuel system high pressure fittings.
