Disc Brake System: Description and Operation

This single piston, floating caliper rear disc brake assembly, includes a hub assembly, adapter, rotor, caliper, shoes and pads. The parking brake system consists of a small duo-servo brake mounted to an adapter which expands out against the hat section on the inside of the rotor. The caliper has either a 1.338 inch or 1.42 inch piston located on the inboard side.

The caliper floats on rubber bushings with metal sleeves on two bolts that are threaded into the adapter. Two machined abutments on the adapter position and align the caliper and brake pads for movement fore and aft.
