Electronic Brake Control Module: Description and Operation

This microprocessing device, located below the instrument panel near the brake pedal bracket, monitors wheel speeds in order to detect wheel lock-up and modulates fluid pressure accordingly via the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). The device also monitors the system for proper operation, stores diagnostic information and communicates with diagnostic scan tools when necessary. The Controller Anti-lock Brake (CAB) is responsible for the illumination of the amber ABS warning lamp in the event of a malfunction.
