Engine Temperature Switch (ETS)

This switch--located in the cooling system--is used on 1982 minimum function systems--4 cyl./98 cid except All W/5 speed manual trans and CA W/4 speed manual trans.

- When coolant is cold, switch contacts are open, and when coolant is warm (above calibration point), contacts are closed.
- The ECM uses this switch to determine MC solenoid dwell.

NOTE: Once switch contacts close, opening the contacts with the engine running will have no effect.
