VSS - MIL ON/Code 24 Set

Subject: 1982-84 BONNEVILLE AND GRAND PRIX


Condition:
"Check Engine" light and Code 24 may occur, due to inoperative V.S.S. (Vehicle Speed Sensor).




Cause:
Servicing of speedometer cluster may cause V.S.S. wires to break.

Correction:
When removing the speedometer cluster, drop the left-hand hush panel, remove the tie-strap on the V.S.S. wire and then remove the V.S.S. connector from the main wire harness.. This will allow the speedometer to pull away from the instrument panel for easier access to the speedometer V.S.S.

After installing the cluster assembly, reattach the V.S.S. wire with a tie-strap or tape at the buffer connector as shown in the illustration.
