Detent/T.V. Cable Adjust

1. With engine off, depress locking tab and move slider rearward through fitting until slider contacts fitting, see image.

2. Release locking tab, then move carburetor throttle lever to wide open position and release.

3. Rotate idler lever to the maximum travel stop position. The cable will ratchet through its slider and automatically adjust itself. Release throttle idler lever. Do not adjust using the TBI or carburetor lever.

4. Check cable for sticking or binding, then test vehicle for proper operation.

5. If transmission does not shift properly, raise and support vehicle and remove transmission oil pan. Inspect throttle lever and bracket assembly on valve body for damage. Check to ensure that throttle valve exhaust valve rod is not worn or damaged. Check to ensure that lifter spring holds lifter rod against bottom of valve body and that throttle valve plunger is not sticking.
