Subject: REVISED TRANSAXLE OIL LEVEL CHECKING PROCEDURE - 1983 6000, PHOENIX AND 2000 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE
The procedure explaining "checking transaxle oil level" shown on Page 7A-2, Section 7A of the following Shop Manuals is incorrect:

1983 Pontiac Service Manual - 6000 and Phoenix

1983 Pontiac Service Manual - 2000

Step 1 should read: "If it felt cool or warm, about room temperature and warmer but not too hot to hold the level should be between the two dimples above the "Full" mark."

Step 3 should read: "If it was too hot to hold the level should be in the cross hatched area on the dipstick, near the "Full" mark."
