Fluid Change

Remove front and side oil pan attaching bolts, then loosen rear attaching bolts. Carefully pry oil pan loose and allow transmission oil to drain into suitable container. Remove oil pan and gasket, then replace screen. Install pan and gasket, then add 1 1/2 quarts of transmission fluid through dipstick tube. Start engine and operate at idle speed only. Move selector gear through each drive range, then place in park position and check fluid level. Add enough fluid to bring level to Full mark.

An early change to a darker color from the usual red color and/or a strong odor that is usually associated with overheated fluid is normal, and should not be treated as a positive sign of needed maintenance or unit failure.

The normal maintenance schedule for drain and refill of this type fluid remains unchanged.
