Disassemble
1. Remove Vacuum Modulator.
2. Remove extension housing seal.
3. Install tool on output shaft to prevent cocking and tap off seal.
4. Depress speedometer drive gear retaining clip then slide gear off output shaft and remove clip.
5. Remove governor cover retainer, remove cover and withdraw governor from case.
6. Remove oil pan and pump oil screen.
7. Remove detent roller and spring assembly from valve body. Remove valve body attaching bolts. Remove manual valve link from range selector inner lever. Remove valve body and detent control valve link.
8. Remove valve body spacer support, plate, spacer plate and gaskets.
9. TCC models, remove detent roller and spring assembly from valve body. Remove actuator pin from detent actuator valve and remove control wire. Disconnect wires from case connector and remove solenoid. Remove governor pressure switch only if replacing. Remove manual shaft retainer clip and slide manual shaft outward to disconnect manual valve. Remove link. Remove valve body attaching bolts and valve body. Remove auxiliary valve body and support plate attaching bolts and remove auxiliary valve body and support plate. Remove spacer plate, gasket, and five check balls from case.
10. TCC auxiliary valve body.
11. Remove check balls from case.
12. Remove oil pump pressure.
13. Note TCC check ball locations.
14. Remove governor feed screen from case.
15. Remove jam nut holding flange selector inner lever to manual shaft. Remove lever from shaft and parking pawl rod and remove manual shaft from case.
16. Remove manual shaft seal from case.
17. Remove park lock bracket and rod.
18. Remove parking pawl spring.
19. Remove parking pawl shaft retaining plug, pawl and shaft.
20. Using slide hammer remove pump assembly.
21. Loosen intermediate band nut and anchor bolt.
22. Remove intermediate band.
23. Remove intermediate servo.
24. Note disassembly of intermediate servo.
25. Remove intermediate clutch cushion spring and clutch.
26. Remove direct and forward clutch from case as an assembly.
27. Remove forward clutch housing to input ring gear front thrust washer.
28. Remove output carrier to shaft snap ring.
29. Remove input ring gear.
30. Remove output carrier thrust washer.
31. Remove output carrier assembly.
32. Remove sun gear drive shell assembly and thrust washer.
33. Remove roller clutch retaining ring.
34. Remove roller clutch support and retaining spring. Bump roller clutch support lightly with output shaft to loosen.
35. Remove low and reverse clutch pack.
36. Remove reaction carrier.
37. Remove output ring gear and shaft assembly from case.
38. Remove output ring gear to output shaft snap ring and remove ring gear from shaft.
39. Remove output ring gear needle bearing.
40. Compress low and reverse clutch piston springs and remove snap ring, retainer and springs.
41. Note position of clutch spring compressor.
42. Remove low and reverse piston.
43. Install tool and compress intermediate clutch accumulator cover and remove retaining ring, cover, spring and piston.
