Input Shaft






DISASSEMBLY

Refer to above image, and proceed as follows:

A hydraulic press, tools J-36183 and J-36184 are required to conduct the following procedure. Also, identify blocker ring (14) for the 3rd gear and blocker ring (7) for the 4th gear. Do not interchange the 3rd and 4th gear blocker rings.

1. Remove snap ring (2).

2. Using tools described previously, remove gears (3) and (4), bearing 5 (5), race (6) , blocker ring (7 and 14) , synchronizer assembly (8) and gear (5).

3. Remove 3rd gear bearing (16).

INSPECTION

Inspect all components for excessive wear and/or damaged. Replace worn or damaged Components as required.







ASSEMBLY

Refer to above image, and proceed as follows: An oven, hydraulic press and tools J-22912-O1, J-36183 and J-36184 are required to conduct the following procedure Also, lubricate all components as assembly progresses. Use lubricant No. 12345349 or equivalent. Bearing race (6) and 5th gear (3) require heating in a suitable oven at 250°F. for approximately 7-10 minutes.

1. Install bearing (16).

2. Install 3rd gear (15) with cone facing upward.

3. Install blocker ring (14).

4. When installing the 3/4 synchronizer assembly (8), note the following:

a. When installing, start the press operation, then STOP before tangs engage.

b. Lift and rotate, gears (14 and 15) into synchronizer tangs.

c. Continue to press until seated. Ensure all shavings are removed.

5. Install 3/4 synchronizer (8) using tools described previously. Ensure side marked 3RD, gear and small outside diameter groove of sleeve face toward 3rd gear (15).

6. Install bearing race (6) and bearing (5).

7. Install blocker ring (7) and 4th gear (4) with cone facing downward.

8. Install 5th gear (3) using tools J-36183, J-36184 and a hydraulic press. During installation, ensure flat side is facing downward.

9. Install a new snap ring (2).
