A/T - THM 200C In Reverse Range Engine Stops Running

SUBJECT: THM 200C

PROBLEM: Engine stops running when in reverse range.

CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by transmission fluid leaking across the pump gear causing the torque converter clutch to engage. This can be aggravated by hot transmission oil, high line pressure demand, low idle speed, and large pump drive gear side clearance.

SOLUTION:




Install service package part # 8638951, which contains a pressure regulator valve, part # 8638950. (see illustration)
