Warranty, Installation, Activation, & Programming Info.

WARRANTY:

The warranty on the Delco Electronic Dealer Installed Telephone will be 36 month/unlimited mileage. This warranty will follow the telephone, not the vehicle. Therefore this telephone can be transferred from one vehicle to the other without affecting the warranty. For more details, refer to the warranty statement included in the Dealer Cellular Telephone Package.

INSTALLATION:

Provided in the cellular telephone dealer package will be an installation guide. This guide is designed to instruct the dealership technician in the recommended installation of the telephone. Delco Electronics recommends the dealer technician follows these instructions.

Following the installation guide will help a technician servicing the telephone in the future. The technician will be able to have confidence in the way the telephone was installed. He will be able to know the exact placement of the components, as well as the wire and antenna wire routing.

ACTIVATION AND PROGRAMMING:

Sometime during installation, the dealer technician or the sales person will be involved in the activation and programming of the telephone.

The activation of the telephone is the interface that goes on between the customer, dealership, and the activation center. This is similar to activating any utility service. The cellular activation center has an application form that must be filled out. This form is similar to a loan application. The application information will be supplied by the customer and the dealership.

NOTE: The cellular service is provided by a local carrier in your area. You may call 1-800-422-2394 for the name of the local cellular service provider. This cellular provider will also be the main contact for any cellular coverage related questions.

The application form will then be relayed over the phone or faxed to the General Motors Cellular Activation Center (GMCAC). The GMCAC will process the information and call the dealership back with the information that must be programmed into the telephone.

Programming the telephone is accomplished by using the keypad of the handset. The instructions for doing this procedure are in the user's guide.

Programming of the telephone may also have to be done on some rare occasions while servicing the telephone. This procedure may also need to be followed if the technician needs to check that the information programmed into the telephone is correct.

IMPORTANT: Before the telephone can be used, the phone number must be checked to see if it is operational. The proper way to do this is to go to another telephone and call the cellular telephone's number. If the cellular telephone rings, the phone number is activated through the cellular network. Making a call from the cellular telephone before the telephone number is activated can lock out that number from the cellular network. This means another contact with the activation center is needed.
