Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Service and Repair


Failure to relieve system pressure prior to disconnecting fuel system components may cause fire or personal injury.
1. Loosen fuel tank filler cap to relieve tank pressure.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
3. Start and operate engine until fuel supply is consumed.
4. Crank engine for approximately 3 seconds to relieve remaining pressure.
5. Disconnect battery ground cable, then reconnect fuel pump connector.
