Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Fillpipe Restrictor: Testing and Inspection

The fillpipe restrictor opening must be large enough to to accept any unleaded gas pump nozzle, but small enough to prevent use of leaded gasoline pump nozzles.

Tool For Checking Fillpipe Restrictor:

Special tools are available to check the size of the fillpipe restrictor, or a simple tool can be made to the dimensions shown in the illustration. Suggested material is non-sparking 1552 alloy.

1. Attempt to insert small end of dowel into fillpipe restrictor. If the small end does not enter the restrictor, the fillpipe restrictor passes the functional test.
