Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair



Remove or Disconnect















^ Disable SIR System, please refer to Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Procedures/ Disabling the SIR System

CAUTION: When servicing an I/P assembly containing a live Inflator module, or when leaving an I/P assembly containing a live inflator module unattended on a bench or other surface, always face the air bag deployment opening up, away from the surface. This is necessary so that a free space is provided to allow the air bag to expand in the unlikely event of accidental deployment. Failure to follow procedures could result in personal injury.

1. Lower console.
2. Auto transmission control assembly (if equipped with console).
3. Release cables.
4. Auto transmission cable bracket (if equipped with console).
5. I/P trim plate.
6. Steering column filler.
^ Lower steering column.
7. I/P compartment insert fasteners and insert by pulling rearward.
8. Defroster grill by carefully prying upward.
9. Fasteners under defroster grill.
10. Fasteners to steering column support bracket brace.
11. Fasteners to dash panel.
12. Fasteners to I/P support bracket.
13. Fasteners to steering column support,
14. Electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
15. Aspirator hose.
16. I/P assembly.

^ When installing the I/P assembly, if it does not properly align with the bottom of the windshield, loosen the center and right I/P support brackets to allow proper alignment and re-tighten after I/P assembly is aligned.

Install or Connect















1. I/P assembly into position.
2. Aspirator hose.
3. Electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
4. Fasteners to steering column support. Tighten fasteners to 12 Nm (106 lb in)
5. Fasteners to I/P support bracket. Tighten fasteners to 9.5 Nm (84 lb in)
6. Fasteners to dash panel. Tighten Fasteners to 3 Nm (27 lb in)
7. Fasteners to steering column support bracket brace. Tighten fasteners to 12 Nm (106 lb in)
8. I/P compartment fasteners after positioning. Tighten fasteners to 1.9 Nm (17 lb in).
9. Fasteners. under defroster grill.
10. Defroster grill by pushing down into place.
^ Raise steering column.
11. Steering column filler.
12. I/P trim plate.
13. Auto transmission cable bracket (if equipped with console).
14. Auto transmission control assembly (if equipped with console).
15. Lower console (if equipped).

^ Enable SIR system, please refer to Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Procedures/ Enabling the SIR System
