Transmitters (FOB)

Transmitter (FOB):

The transmitter unit is a battery-powered, water resistant, radio frequency signal generator. Two transmitters are provided with the vehicle, and each is uniquely recognized by the RFA module. The module is capable of recognizing up to four transmitters. Replacement transmitters for the vehicle may be obtained, however, the RFA module must be reprogrammed to accept the new transmitter.

Reprogramming the RFA module is covered in "On-Vehicle Service".

The RFA system can execute the following functions in response to the vehicle operator pressing a transmitter button. The transmitter range is approximately 10 meters (30 feet). The transmitter should be used within this range for consistent operation.
^ Pressing the UNLOCK button once unlocks the driver's door and turns on the interior lamps if the ignition is OFF.
^ Pressing the UNLOCK button a second time within 5 seconds unlocks all doors and turns on the interior lamps if the ignition is OFF.
^ Pressing the LOCK button locks all doors.
^ Pressing the TRUNK button opens the luggage compartment.
^ Pressing the PANIC button sounds horn and flashes lights for up to 2 minutes. It can be deactivated by pressing the transmitter button, unlocking the vehicle with a key, if vehicle has theft deterrent (UA6), or turning on the ignition.

The RFA system transmitters require periodic battery replacement. Battery life under normal operation should be approximately two years. The back side of the transmitter can be removed to provide access to the battery.
