Adjustment Using Old Park/Neutral Position Switch

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the correct location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The Manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The Manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHER WISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on the threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Place transmission control (805) in "NEUTRAL."
2. Tang (818) on park/neutral position swatch (817) into slot on transmission control (805).
3. Park/neutral position switch screws (819) to transmission control, loosely.
4. Insert 2.34 mm (3/32-inch) gage pin into service adjustment hole, and rotate switch (817) until gage pin drops to 15 mm (19/32-inch) depth.

Tighten
- Park/neutral position switch screws (819) to 2.2 Nm (19 lb in).

5. Front floor console.
6. Negative battery cable.

Tighten
- Negative battery cable to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

Important:
- After the park/neutral position switch adjustment, verify the engine will only start with the ignition key in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL." If the engine win start with the ignition key in any other position, re-adjust the park/neutral position switch.
