Compressor Clutch: Service and Repair
Tools Required:J 33027-A Clutch Hub Holding Tool
J 33013-B Hub & Drive Plate Remover and Installer
Remove or Disconnect
1. Drive belt.
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
3. Passenger-side tire and wheel.
4. Passenger-side engine splash shield.
5. Install J 33027-A and remove compressor shaft nut.
6. Install J 33013-B into hub. Hold outer body of tool with a wrench, and turn the center screw to remove compressor clutch.
7. Shaft key.
Install or Connect
1. Shaft key into hub groove. Allow key to project 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) out of key way.
2. Compressor clutch in place (align shaft key).
3. J 33027-A to keep compressor clutch from turning.
4. J 33013-B remove installer center screw and reverse the body direction on the center screw. Hold the outer body and tighten center screw.
5. The gap between compressor clutch and rotor should be 0.40-0.50 mm (0.015-0.020 inch).
6. Remove J 33013-B.
7. Compressor shaft nut.
Tighten
^ Nut to 18 N.m (13 lb. ft.).
8. Remove J 33027-A.
9. Spin the pulley rotor by hand to see that the rotor is not rubbing the clutch plate.
10. Passenger-side engine splash shield.
11. Passenger-side tire and wheel.
12. Lower vehicle.
13. Drive belt.
