Preliminary Alignment Inspection

Perform the following front-end inspections before making any adjustments effecting the wheel alignment:
1. Check for the proper inflation pressure of the tires. Refer to Tire Inflation Pressure Specifications.
2. Inspect for excessive wear on the hub and on the bearing assemblies.
3. Inspect the following components:
- The ball joints
- The tie rod ends

4. Inspect the tires and the wheels for run out.
5. Check the vehicle trim heights. Refer to Trim Height Specifications. Make any needed corrections to trim the height before you adjust the caster, the camber, or the toe-in.
6. Inspect for looseness of the steering gear to the crossmember. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement (Automatic Transmission) or Power Steering Gear Replacement (Manual Transmission) in Power Steering System.
7. Inspect the struts for leaks.
8. Check the struts for noise.
9. Inspect for looseness of the control arms or looseness of the stabilizer shaft attachments. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement and Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Suspension.

Important: The vehicle must be on a level surface.

10. Inspect the alignment equipment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions
