A Important Preliminary Checks

Before using the Symptom tables:
^ Perform and verify all of the following items:
^ The PCM and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) are operating correctly. Refer to MIL Operation.
^ There are no DTCs stored.
^ Scan tool data is within normal operating range.
^ Verify the customer complaint.
^ Perform the Visual/Physical Check. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Locate the correct symptom in the list at the end. Follow the procedures in the appropriate diagnostic table. If the problem can not be duplicated, also refer to.
