UART Serial Data Link

The UART serial data communications circuit is provided at Pin 9 of the DLC.

The UART serial data link allows the following modules to communicate and share data with each other:
^ Driver Information Center (DIC)
^ Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
^ Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)

The UART serial data link allows a scan tool to communicate with the above modules (with the exception of the PCM) for diagnostic and testing purposes. The PCM uses class 2 serial data link for diagnostics and testing.
