Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Bus Bar Lead Terminal Repair

BUS BAR LEAD TERMINAL REPAIR

IMPORTANT: Do not overheat the terminal when resoldering.
- Reattach the rear defogger bus bar lead terminals by soldering. Use a solder containing 3 percent silver and a rosin flux paste.
- Before soldering the bus bar lead terminal, buff the repair area using fine steel wool.
- Apply the paste-type rosin flux in small quantities to the bus bar lead terminal repair area using a brush.
- Coat the soldering iron tip using solder prior to the repair procedure. Use only enough solder in order to ensure a complete repair.

NOTE: Use only enough heat to melt the solder. Using excessive heat can damage the rear window defogger components or the rear window.
