Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Remove the oil filter.





3. Remove oil filter bypass hole plug.





4. Insert a flat-bladed tool into the oil filter bypass hole and force the bypass valve (1 ) out.





5. Remove the oil filter bypass valve.





6. If necessary, remove the oil filter adapter.

Installation Procedure






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. If removed, install the oil filter adapter.
Tighten the oil filter adapter to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).





2. Install the oil filter bypass valve.





3. Install the oil filter bypass valve (1) to the proper depth.





4. Install oil filter bypass hole plug.
Tighten the oil filter bypass hole plug to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the oil filter.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Inspect and correct the engine oil level as necessary.
