Park Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement^ Tools Required

Removal Procedure
The automatic adjustment park brake pedal assembly and the front park brake cable are serviced as a unit.
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake connector (1).
3. Remove front park brake cable from the cable connector (1).
4. Using J 37043 remove the park brake cable from the cable support.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove left sound insulator panel to access the park brake lever assembly.
7. Remove the left carpet retainer.
8. Pull the carpet back to expose park brake cable.
9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the park brake warning lamp switch.
10. Remove the park brake lever assembly attaching nuts (1, 2).
11. Remove the park brake lever and cable assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the park brake lever and cable assembly to the mounting studs.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the park brake lever assembly attaching nuts (1, 2).
^ Tighten the park brake lever nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the park brake warning lamp switch.
4. Install the carpet.
5. Install the left carpet retainer.
6. Install the left sound insulator panel.
7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
8. Connect the front park brake cable (3) to the park brake cable connector (1) on the Intermediate park brake cable (2).
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. If a new park brake pedal assembly is being installed the cable tension set pin (1) has to be removed.
11. To set the park brake cable tension rotate the cable tension set pin (1) 180 degrees and then pull down.
