Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Vehicle Speed Sensor(VSS) ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2).
4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (1 ) and the O-ring seal (3).
Use a suitable container in order to catch any transmission fluid that may spill.
5. Inspect the transmission speed sensor for the following defects:
^ Cracks
^ Nicks
^ Damage
Installation Procedure
1. Install the vehicle speed sensor (1) with a new O-ring seal (3).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2).
^ Tighten the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2) to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Check the transmission fluid; add as required.
