Emblem Replacement - Hood

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun


Removal Procedure





1. Apply masking tape to the area around the hood emblem to protect the finish.
2. Open the hood.
3. Remove the nuts from the back of the hood emblem.
4. To remove the emblem from the hood, heat the emblem using the J 25070 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface.
5. Apply heat in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

Notice: Refer to Exterior Trim Emblem Removal Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Use a plastic, flat bladed tool to lift or remove the emblem from the hood.




7. Remove any adhesive from the hood using a 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk P/N 07501 or equivalent.



Installation Procedure

1. Heat the hood emblem and mounting surface to approximately 21°C (70°F) using the J 25070 , if necessary.

Important: Apply the emblem/nameplate in an environment that is free from dust or other dirt that could come into contact with the sticky backing. Foreign material may cause improper adhesion. Do not touch the adhesive backing on the emblem/nameplate.


2. Remove the protective liner from the back of the hood emblem.




3. Position the hood emblem locating pins to the holes in the hood.
4. Apply equal pressure along the emblem to uniformly bond the emblem to the hood.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the hood emblem nuts to the hood emblem.

Tighten the nuts to 2.0 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Remove the masking tape from the hood.
7. Close the hood.
