Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair
Proportioning Valve ReplacementRemoval Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Service Precautions.
Notice; Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Important: Note the locations of the brake pipes in order to aid in installation.
Disconnect the brake pipes from the proportion valve.
2. Remove Master Cylinder brake pipes from proportion valve.
3. Remove the nuts that retain the proportion valve to the mounting bracket.
4. Remove the proportion valve from the bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the proportion valve to bracket and install retaining nuts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the nuts 10 Nm (84 inch lbs.).
2. Install master cylinder brake pipes to proportion valve.
Tighten the fittings to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the brake pipes to the proportion valve.
Tighten the fittings to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
4. Bleed brake system.
