Power Steering Return Hose Replacement (LY7)Removal Procedure
1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
4. Remove the inner fender liner enough to gain access to the front frame bolts.
5. Use a utility stand to support the right side of the frame.
6. Remove the right side frame-to-body bolts.
7. Use the utility stand to lower the right side of the frame and powertrain.
8. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering cooling pipe.
9. Disconnect the power steering reservoir inlet hose from the power steering pump.
10. Cap off the hoses, pipes and pump to prevent contamination.
11. Use the utility stand to raise the frame and powertrain.
12. Install the right side frame bolts.
13. Lower the vehicle to allow a floor jack to engage with the frame.
14. Use a floor jack in order to support the frame and powertrain.
15. Remove the right side frame-to-body bolts
16. Use the floor jack to lower the right side of the frame and powertrain to provide clearance to the reservoir.
17. Disconnect the ECM wire harness from the ECM wire harness clip on the reservoir.
18. Remove the power steering pressure pipe/hose from the power steering reservoir bracket.
19. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting stud bolt.
20. Remove the power steering reservoir, reservoir bracket, and both hoses from the vehicle.
21. Disconnect the power steering reservoir outlet hose from the power steering reservoir.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering reservoir.
2. Install the power steering reservoir, reservoir bracket, and both hoses to the vehicle.
3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the power steering reservoir mounting stud bolt.
Tighten the power steering reservoir mounting stud bolt to 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the power steering pressure pipe/hose to the power steering reservoir bracket.
5. Connect the ECM wire harness to the ECM wire harness clip on the reservoir.
6. Use the floor jack to raise the right side of the frame and powertrain.
7. Install the right side frame-to-body bolts
8. Remove the floor jack from the frame and powertrain.
9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
10. Use the utility stand to support the right side of the frame.
11. Remove the right side frame-to-body bolts
12. Use the utility stand to lower the right side of the frame and powertrain.
13. Uncap the hoses, pipes and pump.
14. Connect the power steering reservoir inlet hose to the power steering pump.
15. Connect the power steering reservoir return hose to the power steering cooling pipe.
16. Use the utility stand to raise the right side of the frame and powertrain.
17. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the right rear frame-to-body bolt.
Tighten the right rear frame-to-body bolt to 240 Nm (177 ft. lbs.).
18. Install the right front frame-to-body bolt.
Tighten the right rear frame-to-body bolt to 155 Nm (114 ft. lbs.).
19. Install the inner fender liner.
20. Install the right front tire and wheel.
21. Lower the vehicle.
22. Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid.
23. Bleed the power steering system.
24. Inspect the system for leaks.
