Instrument Panel (I/P) - Trim Panel Replacement - Lower
INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LOWER
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
2. Disable the driver and passenger SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the I/P upper trim panel.
4. Remove the steering column.
5. Remove the body hinge pillar trim panels.
6. Remove the sill plates.
7. Remove the front floor console.
8. Remove glove compartment.
9. Remove the HVAC control assembly.
10. Remove manual selector.
11. Disengage the hood release cable from hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
12. Remove the following components from the lower instrument panel:
- The 8 bolts
- The 4 push retainers
- The wire harness clamps
13. Remove the lower instrument panel by pulling rearward.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the lower instrument panel assembly to the vehicle. Ensure that the 4 push retainers are fully engaged. Secure the assembly to the instrument panel reinforcement with the 8 bolts.
2. Route and install the I/P wiring harness clamps.
3. Connect the hood release cable to the hood release handle.
4. Install the manual selector.
5. Install the HVAC control assembly.
6. Install the glove compartment.
7. Install the front floor console assembly.
8. Install the hinge pillar trim panels.
9. Install the front sill plates.
10. Install the steering column.
11. Install the I/P upper trim panel.
12. Enable the driver and passenger side SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
