Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (With RPO Code LE5)

Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (With RPO Code LE5)

Tools Required

J38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Caution: With a pressurized cooling system, the coolant temperature in the radiator can be considerably higher than the boiling point of the solution at atmospheric pressure. Removal of the surge tank cap, while the cooling system is hot and under high pressure, causes the solution to boil instantaneously with explosive force. This will cause the solution to spew out over the engine, the fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious bodily injury may result.

Removal Procedure

1. Partially drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7, LZ4, LZ9 Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LE5 Static Fill).
2. Remove the surge tank from the surge tank bracket.

3. Reposition the heater inlet hose clamp at the heater core using the J38185.
4. Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater core.

5. Reposition the heater inlet hose clamp at the engine using the J38185.
6. Remove the heater inlet hose from the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the heater inlet hose to the engine.
2. Reposition the heater inlet hose clamp at the engine using the J38185.

3. Install the heater inlet hose to the heater core.
4. Reposition the heater inlet hose clamp at the heater core using the J38185.
5. Install the surge tank to the surge tank bracket.
6. Fill the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7, LZ4, LZ9 Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LE5 Static Fill).
