66. Camshaft Installation

Camshaft Installation





1. Lubricate the camshaft (2) journals and bearings with clean engine oil.
2. Install M8 -1.25 x 100 mm ( M8 -1.25 x 4.0 in) bolts (1) in the front of the camshaft (2).

Important: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.


3. Using the bolts (1) as a handle, carefully install the camshaft (2) into the cylinder block (3).
4. Remove the bolts (1) from the front of the camshaft (2).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .


Important: The gasket surface on the engine block should be clean and free of dirt or debris.


5. Install the camshaft retainer (2).
6. Install the camshaft retainer to cylinder block retaining bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
