Generator Replacement (LZ9) (3.9L)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Coupe) (Drive Belt Replacement (Coupe))Drive Belt Replacement (Convertible) (Drive Belt Replacement (Convertible)).
3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.
4. Reposition the generator rubber boot (3).
5. Remove the engine harness terminal nut (1).
6. Remove the engine harness terminal (2).




7. Remove the generator lower bolt and stud.




8. Remove the generator upper bolt.
9. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the generator.
2. Install the generator lower bolt and stud until snug.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the generator upper bolt.

Tighten the bolts/stud to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




4. Install the engine harness terminal (2).
5. Install the engine harness terminal nut (1).

Tighten the nut to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).

6. Position the generator rubber boot (3).
7. Connect the engine harness electrical connector.
8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Coupe) (Drive Belt Replacement (Coupe))Drive Belt Replacement (Convertible) (Drive Belt Replacement (Convertible)).
9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
