ATTENTION: This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 2, Number 8708, dated 6-5-87.

Technical Bulletin Group 2, Number 8704, dated March 4, 1987 outlines testing and charging requirements for batteries.

A recent warranty claim analysis has shown that a large number of the vehicles requiring battery replacement were stored in excess of 60+ days.

Battery recharging during storage is dealer responsibility and resultant sulphation due to storage is not a warranty matter.

Effective immediately, all batteries requiring replacement under warranty must be diagnosed with test findings documented on the battery check sheet.

These check sheets must be filed in the vehicle history file and retained pending request by the PCNA Warranty Department with all applicable documentation or upon Field Service Manager request during parts inspection.

Prior to a Field Service Manager visit all batteries coded for inspection must be trickle charged 10 hours or overnight at 4-6 amps to facilitate testing.

Please advise all personnel of this requirement and implement changes as necessary to avoid claim processing delay.

To re-order Battery Check Sheets contact your respective Warranty Specialist.
