Differential Disassembly/Assembly
Disassembly- Knock out spiral pin for differential pins.
- Pull off tapered roller bearing inner races with a puller (e.g. Kukko No. 20/1) and special tool P 263.
NOTE: Claws of both arms might have to be machined.
- Knock ring gear off of housing.
Assembly
A - Centering pins (made locally)
- Mount ring gear. using locally manufactured centering pins as guides.
- Tighten ring gear bolts to:
^ 11.9 Material 135-140 Nm (96-103 ft lb)
^ 12.9 Material 150-160 Nm (111-118 ft lb)
- Slide lockplate into groove of bolts, squeeze front end with pliers (to firmly unite lockplate with bolts) and lock by bending lockplate down over side of bolt head.
- Coat differential pinions with MoS2 paste.
- Install large differential pinions with press-fit threaded plates through large opening in differential housing and locate with joint flanges.
- Install small differential pinions between large differential pinions and turn, until bores of pinions align with bores in housing.
- Install tapered roller bearing inner races with P 264.
