Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Test Point 11 - Injectors

1. If engine runs proceed to next step. If engine does not run, proceed to step 6.
2. Connect tachometer, start engine and allow idle to stabilize.

Test Jack Pin Identification:

3. Using a test wire, jumper test jack terminals B and C to prevent DME from attempting to compensate idle during test procedure. Test connector is located in the engine compartment near ignition coil.
4. Working one at a time, disconnect injector electrical connectors while noting engine rpm.

Consistent rpm drop all injectors, injectors functioning properly. End of test.
Inconsistent rpm drop one or more injectors, proceed to next step.

5. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance across each injectors terminals.

3.5 - 5.5 ohms, proceed to step 7.
Not 3.5 to 5.5 ohms, replace faulty injector(s). End of test.

6. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance across each injectors terminals.

3.5 to 5.5 ohms, proceed to step 7.
Not 3.5 to 5.5 ohms, replace faulty injector(s). End of test.

7. Connect oscilloscope across injector harness connector. Refer to oscilloscope manufacturer's instructions for hookup and operation.

Injector Scope Patterns:

8. Start or crank engine and observe oscilloscope.
9. If desired scope patterns cannot be achieved, check wiring. If wiring and other applicable test points check OK, replace DME control unit.
