Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Fuel Pressure Check

1. Remove test port cap nut from fuel distribution line. Do not allow fuel to spill on hot engine, also ensure sealing ball does not fall out of capped nut.
2. Connect suitable fuel pressure gauge to test connection.
3. Start engine and allow to idle.
4. Check fuel pressure gauge. Fuel pressure should be approximately 29 psi.
5. Disconnect vacuum hose from pressure regulator. Pressure should rise to approximately 36 psi.
6. If pressure is not as specified, pinch fuel return line shut. If pressure now rises above 58 psi, replace pressure regulator. If pressure stays below 58 psi, check fuel filter and fuel pump.
