Distributor: Service and Repair

1. Set cylinder No. 1 on TDC, compression stroke.
2. Remove ignition cables from holders.
3. Remove distributor caps. Ensure rotor tips are aligned with marks on upper distributor housings.
4. Remove distributor hold-down bolt, then the distributor.
5. Reverse procedure to install. After installing distributor ensure rotor tips are aligned with marks on distributor housing.

1985 - 95 Firing Order:





6. It is not necessary to check ignition timing after distributor installation as the distributor's only function is to distribute secondary voltage. Ignition timing, dwell and advance functions are electronically controlled.
