Test Point 5 - Air Flow Sensor

Airflow Sensor Terminal Identification:





TEST POINT 5a - CODE 1_21 AIR FLOW SENSOR
1. Disconnect air flow sensor electrical connector.
2. Connect voltmeter between harness terminal 3 and 4.
3. Turn ignition on.

Approx. 5 volts, proceed to test point 5b.
Not approx. 5 volts, check and repair wiring. End of test.

TEST POINT 5b - SENSOR VOLTAGE DROP
1. Remove air filter connecting hose.
2. Install test jumpers between disconnected harness plug and sensor terminals 3 and 4.
3. Connect voltmeter between sensor terminal 2 and ground.
4. Turn ignition on.

250 - 260 mv, proceed to next step.
Not 250 - 260 mv, replace air flow sensor.

5. Using a non-metallic tool, slowly push sensing flap to full open position while observing voltage reading.

Smooth transition to approx. 4.6 volts, sensor normal. End of test.
No smooth transition to approx. 4.6 volts, replace air flow sensor.
