PurposeThe distributor functions only as a rotary switch, directing high voltage to the spark plugs in the proper firing order.
Construction and Operation
The distributor has nothing inside it except the ignition rotor and the centrifugal advance mechanism. The centrifugal advance mechanism is used only to adjust ignition rotor alignment with the distributor cap at higher distributor speeds. The timing advance is controlled completely by the ignition control unit.
